Communication & Feedback
Throughout the design process, I kept Lauren updated on each stage through Facebook, as this was a simple platform to send photographs and files through, and is one that we use every day normally, so you won’t forget to check it. I sent Lauren photographs of each stage to gage her feedback and thoughts on the design work, to ensure she had full control over the direction of the design work, and so that I didn’t spent ages working on an idea only to discover she didn’t like it. Using Facebook as a platform for communicating and receiving feedback was really effective, as it meant we could keep each other updated without having to arrange meetings, meaning the designs could be progressing even if we were in completely different parts of the UK, and the design work wouldn’t be compromised by this distance.
Challenges
One thing I found really challenging was wanting to get on with the design work, but not being able to as it took a long time for Lauren to fully decide on a name for her personal branding and collection. This meant that when I had the time to be getting on with this work I couldn’t, and ended up trying to work on this when it was an extremely busy time for me. However, this couldn’t of been avoided as it was out of my control.
Another challenge I faced in this brief was the changing of ideas or styles within the personal branding. Tutor and peer feedback on Lauren’s side was essential to the design decisions being given the all clear, and this often resulted in a change of idea. However challenging, this has been a true reflection of working in industry where clients change their minds all the time, so this has given me an experience of this.
