OUGD603 EXTENDED PRACTICE - LAUREN BRANDING - BRIEF EVALUATION

This has been one of the more challenging briefs I have worked on, due to the client being fairly slow at getting back to me on their feedback and key design decisions, resulting the the design work having to be rushed towards the end to get it completed in time for their printing deadline. However, this is the reality of working with a client, and is something that should be realised.

This brief also challenged me in that I was creating work very different to my usual style, so found this difficult to create effective work that both inspired me but that the client loved as well, and often compromises were made on my behalf in order to create exactly what the client wanted.

In saying this, the design work for LORE graduate collection was a part of this brief I really enjoyed working on, as the design process was really simple, and allowed me to adapt an illustrative style which I found very relaxing. Perhaps because I enjoyed creating the branding for the graduate collection more, the client was also a lot happier with the outcome. I don’t know if this is an accurate correlation or just a coincidence.

Working on this brief has been a challenging process, and at times I have wanted to call it quits and give up, however continuing through to the end and delivering on the client has made me really proud of my perseverance and determination not to let the client down because of my own creative challenges with the brief. It has also given me a clear insight into how not every client is going to be a dream, and sometimes it’s not the client but the people who influence them and their design suggestions which are challenging. However this all happens in industry as well so this has definitely prepared me for this.
