After the success of the initial digital design, several more of the sketches were created digitally, to see how they all work both individually and as a collection.
Due to the style of the illustrations and the consistent use of colours across the designs, they all work really well collectively, which is great as this was an important requirement for this brief.
A lot of these designs have themes of nature, and this is intentional as in the initial mid mapping stage it was identified that love is a natural thing, so this wanted to be reflected in the cards in some way as well, in this case it is through the setting of the cards, with it reflecting how natural love it, that it can’t be forced, and it’s been around for as long as the world has existed, is a beautiful thing, and doesn’t rely on what gender you are to exist.
The use of a wide selection of warm colours was intentional in order to reflect the LGBT rainbow flag in a really subtle way, as this is a subtle nod to the LGBT community without being really obvious about it, but still recognising the target audience.
Love is really exciting as well and this needed to be reflected in the colour choices, to not be dull and boring, but to be vibrant and exciting.
