OUGD603 EXTENDED PRACTICE - BRASIL PUBLICATION - AESTHETIC PUBLICATION RESEARCH

The Earth Issue
The Earth Issue, is a collaborative publication from environmental photographer Elena Cremona and Archive Collective. What inspired me in this publication was the vibrancy of the photographs throughout the whole publication. The use of full bleed and smaller photographs created a great contrast and a varied page layout, whilst allowing certain photographs to take prominence over other, telling a story. This publication is also more of a glossy magazine as opposed to a zine or an ordinary publication, which makes it appear to have a higher quality and will attract a certain type of target audience because of this.

Fallzine
Fallzine is much more of a zine than a glossy publication, having slightly more or a rugged appearance. The photographs also appear slightly dimmer, although this could just be due to the nature of the photographs themselves as opposed to the stock they’re printed on. Fallzine uses a variety of different page layouts to create contrast and varied balance throughout, maintaining the readers interest. This is something that should be considered within my publication, to vary the layout of the photographs to ensure the reader is surprised by every turn of the page.
