This module has been full of positives and negatives throughout, however it has been thoroughly enjoyable. The most challenging thing I have found is how important self time management is, and how much of I jump I found it from Level 5 to Level 6. This is something I was not prepared for initially and looking back I wish I would of known the things I should I should of been doing at the start of the year as opposed to part way through in regards to self time management. I don’t think I realised how much of a jump it would be, and therefore initially I was quite unprepared. However, its come to the end of the year and I have produced all of the briefs I wanted to, so I feel I have been quite successful in that respect. I have also developed extreme planning skills for the last semester, using a printed out calendar, my Filofax, and a never ending stream of ‘to do’ lists, I have managed to meet my personal set deadlines and get everything done to a standard I am very pleased with.
I have undertaken a considerable amount of client led briefs, which has given me really varied experiences of working with different clients, and I have learnt that no one client experience is the same. This has also given me really good experience of communicating with a client and putting their needs first, which is essential in the design industry when producing work for a client.
This module has really helped me to develop as a designer, and I feel I have really embraced my colourful, playful design style as opposed to trying to produce clean, minimal design work, as I have embraced that this is not who I am as a designer. This has also helped me to choose briefs which are more suited to my style, which has in turn resulted in design work I am more passionate about and which I have enjoyed doing as well.
Although this has been a challenging module, I feel as though I have really developed as a designer and have learnt a lot about myself, and am pleased with the work that I have produced.

OUGD602 PPP - MODULE EVALUATION
This module has been extremely influential in helping me to start to understand what I enjoy creating, in regards to taking on more of an artworking role, working within a studio or a brand, or designing branding and concepts from scratch. I have had two amazing experiences working within the design industry, although both being very different, and both teaching me really important things about myself personally and as a designer. Through these internships I have learnt that I prefer working to brand guidelines or within a brand itself, as opposed to creating new content, which is something I would never of learnt had I not undertaken these internships. This will considerably impact upon the kind of roles I apply for, and will result in me having a higher chance of getting a job doing something that I really enjoy doing.
This module has also given me the opportunity to discover and connect with creatives which inspire me, such as Studio Arhoj, which has in turn helped me to discover some amazing pieces of design work which have then inspired my own work.
This module has been really enjoyable and has felt so natural this year compared to previous years, as I am getting more used to interacting with the creative community, and I feel this is making a huge impact on the decisions I make in my own work and also in relation to my career ambitions and decisions.

OUGD603 EXTENDED PRACTICE - WINE LABEL - CLIENT OUTCOME
Client Design
This is the final design for the client following their exact requirements. From the initial designs the bird has been made the focal point as per request from the client. The coat of arms take on much more of a minimal appearance, being low down in hierarchy, however still appearing on the bottle giving it an extra element of quality. The “Grape Snatcher” text stands out far more than any other type element on the label, which was created this way following on from the research undertaken into type visual hierarchy.

OUGD603 EXTENDED PRACTICE - BRASIL PUBLICATION - BRIEF EVALUATION
The publication aspect of this brief allowed to develop my understanding of editorial design, and explore different photographic page layouts, which was something I am really interested in but haven’t provided myself with enough opportunity to develop this interest. This brief also provided me with a great platform to showcase the photographs I had taken during my two trips to Brasil, which otherwise would of had nothing done to them, and this way they were given a purpose and a meaning, and hopefully inspiring other people to travel to the same places I did.
It was also great to get feedback on this project from Venn Creative, which then led to me developing this brief into something more substantial with more purpose.
This brief took a lot longer to complete than was initially intended, and this had to then be factored into the time plan to complete other design work, however I managed to complete it to the standard I wanted, and managed to do everything I wanted with this brief, which highlights the success of my time plan, and being able to adapt it to allow for extra time on this brief.
I have really enjoyed working with the topic of travel, as I find this area so inspirational, and this definitely has an impact on the amount of time I wanted to allocate to this brief, because I was enjoying the design process so much.
This brief also gave me the opportunity to talk to different people who live in Brasil or used to live there, to include within my publication, and give more of an insight into the country itself from the people who live there. This was conducted via a family member who spoke Portuguese to send out my questions to select friends and family, to get varied responses from people all across Brasil, which were then translated back into English for use in the publication. This process was probably the most difficult part of the brief, picking out quotes I could use in the publication, and which were positive and relevant as well. Saying that, as far as challenges within a brief go, this was a really minimal one.
This has been such an inspiration brief to work on, and I feel this really shows in the effectiveness of the final outcome, and my enjoyment throughout the whole process.

OUGD602 PPP - PERSONAL BRANDING - BRIEF EVALUATION
This years personal branding brief has given me the opportunity to really define my personal branding, and develop on it from past experiences.
One thing I feel like my personal branding is a professional appearance which still reflects my creative, personal style. I don’t feel like I’ve got it quite right yet, stuck between very creative and very clean, I haven’t found the optimum middle ground yet. This resulted this year in me creating an alternative, more professional version of my business cards in response to going to HERD Digital Jobs Fair, and feeling like my original business cards from this year are far too creative and flimsy.
I have however really enjoyed producing my personal branding this year, and do feel like it reflects me as a creative graphic designer, and I feel I am slowly learning who I am creatively and what I enjoy, although I think this is going to be a long, slow process.
From previous years I have learnt what social media and online platforms work best for me, so that this year I have really honed down my use of these platforms and used them a lot more to showcase my work.
I think my personal branding will continue to develop and evolve throughout my career, at least initially, until I figure out exactly who I am in the creative industries.

OUGD602 PPP - TIME PLANNING WHILST ON INTERNSHIPS
During my internship at Empire magazine, I had just handed in COP a few days before I started, so hadn't gotten anything planned for me to do whilst I was in London. This allowed me to fully immerse myself in the internship experience.
However, during my 3 week internship at Venn Creative over Easter, I had to plan my time carefully in order to not fall behind for when I started back after Easter. To manage my time I produced a lot of short term to do lists, setting myself achievable goals in order to stay motivated, but being realistic about what work I can get done, and also allowing myself the chance to explore the local areas as well, in order to get the most out of this internship as possible.
Although planning my time was very achievable during this internship, I struggled to stay motivated to work during the evenings, as being out of the house from 8am-6pm was a long day, working constantly from 9-5, to then come home and continue working on university work whilst I was in an exciting new location, with beautiful weather, I definitely struggled to make the most efficient use of my time during the evenings. However, I did have an extremely enjoyable internship experience, which has in turn impacted upon my career decisions, so in a way this was a great learning curve.
