OUGD603 EXTENDED PRACTICE - MODULE EVALUATION

This module has been full of positives and negatives throughout, however it has been thoroughly enjoyable. The most challenging thing I have found is how important self time management is, and how much of I jump I found it from Level 5 to Level 6. This is something I was not prepared for initially and looking back I wish I would of known the things I should I should of been doing at the start of the year as opposed to part way through in regards to self time management. I don’t think I realised how much of a jump it would be, and therefore initially I was quite unprepared. However, its come to the end of the year and I have produced all of the briefs I wanted to, so I feel I have been quite successful in that respect. I have also developed extreme planning skills for the last semester, using a printed out calendar, my Filofax, and a never ending stream of ‘to do’ lists, I have managed to meet my personal set deadlines and get everything done to a standard I am very pleased with.

I have undertaken a considerable amount of client led briefs, which has given me really varied experiences of working with different clients, and I have learnt that no one client experience is the same. This has also given me really good experience of communicating with a client and putting their needs first, which is essential in the design industry when producing work for a client.

This module has really helped me to develop as a designer, and I feel I have really embraced my colourful, playful design style as opposed to trying to produce clean, minimal design work, as I have embraced that this is not who I am as a designer. This has also helped me to choose briefs which are more suited to my style, which has in turn resulted in design work I am more passionate about and which I have enjoyed doing as well.

Although this has been a challenging module, I feel as though I have really developed as a designer and have learnt a lot about myself, and am pleased with the work that I have produced.
