Nicky from BUILD
She went to Liverpool College of Art to study
She wanted to be a children’s book illustrator initially
She got a job at a computer games company creating pixel art for games as she needed a job and was too afraid to go to London with an illustration portfolio
She was the lead artist for Playstation Wipeout. She managed the art team and did artwork. She working the The Designers Republic (TDR) on artwork for Wipeout. This was where she met her husband Michael. She did storyboards for Wipeout.
She moved to Leeds in studio with Sony and Sydnosis(?)
It was intense producing video game art, so her and Michael left their jobs and went travelling for 10 months
When they got back they moved to London, and Michael set up BUILD. Nicky worked at Sony again but in London to make the money
It took 5 years for BUILD to properly get going, and she only left her job in 2006 to work full time for BUILD
Ian Anderson (TDR) bought Michael a laptop as his leaving present from TDR, which he sued to set up BUILD with
They eventually left London and moved back to Leeds a few years ago
Michael is the designer and Nicky does everything else
They did internal communications work for Nokia
They did characters to Virgin America. Animade Studio animated them. They were on Times Square digital billboards

People are time wasters if they have a .gmail account. You can sometimes tell people are time wasters from how they word their email.
She’s never been in a position where money is no issue for a client. There’s no such thing as a huge budget.
