OUGD603 EXTENDED PRACTICE - VIRGIN MEDIA - EXHIBITION, PROMOTION & INDEPENDENT LEEDS MAGAZINE

Exhibition
All of the boxes that were painted as part of this project were professionally photographed and exhibited at HEART Enterprise and Arts Centre in Headingley on 27th February 2017 for one evening only. The artists were present along with people from Virgin Media, Leeds City Council, Seagulls paint and also local residents and friends and family as well. It was a really friendly evening with a raffle sale, nibbles, and drinks on arrival.
There was also a feature in the exhibition of the process I went through painting the Virgin Media Communication Box, with various photographs at the different stages.

Made In Leeds
The TV Channel Made In Leeds were also present during the exhibition to film the event and do a feature with the artists and contributors as well to feature on an upcoming episode of theirs.

Postcards for sale
Postcards of the box designs were also on sale for people to purchase, and it was really encouraging to see people buy postcards of the boxes I painted. The money went to funding the exhibition.

Made In Leeds TV Programme
The exhibition aired on the Made In Leeds TV Channel on the programme The Lowdown Leeds on 28th February 2017, with it being available online on Catch Up, and on Virgin Media, Freeview, and Sky live.
The episode featured the exhibition itself, great shots of the artwork and artists who had painted the boxes (including myself) and interviews with key contributors.

Online Articles
The project has been featured on many different platforms online as well, such as Leeds College of Art, the Yorkshire Evening Post, HEART Enterprise and Arts Centre, Leeds Inspired, and Independent Leeds. This has been great exposure for both the project and my designs as well.

Independent Leeds Magazine Article
The project has also featured in Independent Leeds Magazine Issue 07, as a three page feature. A photograph of me painting my box features as the opening photograph which is pretty cool. The article features photographs of the majority of the boxes, with interviews from myself, residents, and Seagulls Paint. This is great to have my design featured in a print publication which has such a large following and a reputable name as well.
