OUGD603 EXTENDED PRACTICE - AMELIA CAMPAIGN - INITIAL ILLUSTRATION DESIGNS

Initial Illustrations
The illustration for Amelia herself was created first, tracing a photograph of her loosely to get the correct type of hair. This illustration was then stylized fitting in better with the style of ‘Sid’.
This illustration was drawn over and over again each with slightly changes on request from Amelia, and preferences from myself. This was the get the perfect illustration, so it could be taken directly digitally without having to draw over it or edit any of it.

Taking it Digital
When an illustration was decided on, it was scanned in and manipulated digitally, to smooth out the black outlines and to add in the colour. This image shows an experiment with different shades of eyes, as one ting Amelia wanted to highlight was her striking blue eyes, as this is one of her most recognisable features.
For the rest of the illustration I used bold, soft, uplifting tones which create a very welcoming and warm atmosphere, to reflect them image she is portraying.

Poppy Development
The illustration for Poppy the puppy was developed in the same way as for Amelia herself. This photograph shows experiments on how the daisy should appear, as it is a nice touch adding a daisy into her hair as that’s also her name. The colours of Daisy were taken directly from a photograph of her, to ensure as much accuracy as possible.

Combined
Both illustrations were experimented with in and out of a circle, as it had to be considered how these illustrations would sit on the campaign poster, and if they’re within a boundary then this will stop them from appearing like they are floating, giving them grounding. The use of placing the illustration in a circle also works really well as being adapted to make stickers, as a possible expansion of this brief.
