OUGD601 COP: KIDS HATES

For my cop practical I want to produce something which makes something that kids hate doing more interactive and fun to do. To start off though I needed to find out what things kids hate doing, so I posted in my Graphic Design course year facebook group, Leeds College of Art collaboration facebook group, and to all my friends on facebook on my feed.
I got a lot of responses which was great, as this creates much more reliable data, and posting in both creative groups and my normal feed will ensure varied people respond, rather than just what creative people hated doing as kids.

Proof:
Post in Graphic Design course facebook group page.

Post in Leeds College of Art collaboration facebook group page.

Post on my general facebook feed.

These are the responses I received from all three posts:
- Clothes shopping not for them x2
- Shopping on a Saturday
- Food shopping x5
- Going in the play house at school
- Having hair washed x3
- Scared of getting hurt
- Learning to ride a bike x2
- Going upstairs by yourself
- Playing in the playground with other kids
- When mum (or parent) left for work
- Peas (veg?) x2
- Clothes shopping x3
- School uniform shopping
- Sleeping with the door closed
- Having hair brushed x5
- Having hair dried using a hair dryer
- Wearing pants
- Afternoon napping
- Doing maths times tables
- Tying shoelaces
- Homework x2
- Going to bed early x4
- Getting hands dirty
- Going on walks x3
- Kidney beans
- Swimming
- Eating at other peoples houses
- Going to music lessons parents forced on you
- Saying hi to mums friends in supermarket
- Dentist
- Kissing distant relatives
- School
- Putting socks on
- Getting dressed after swimming lessons
- Having hair done for school
- Speaking in front of the class
- Getting dressed
- Brushing teeth
- Washing in general

From these responses, having your hair brushed and going food shopping came out on top with 5 people giving this as their answer for each. However shopping in general (food shopping, clothes shopping, shopping not for them) and hair related activities (hair brushed, washed, done, dried) also came out as being the general most hated things. Closely following these was going to bed early with 4 people answering with this response.
As the hair related response was more common with girls than boys, I think the product I will produce will be in answer to the shopping related responses, as this is something that is equally common across boys and girls.
The next stage will be to produce a brief for this practical response, taking into consideration the target audience and the area in which the outcome will be used, in this case in shops. I will also need to outline whether I will target food shops or clothes shops, as this will influence the type or response I produce.
