OUGD601 COP: NEW DISSERTATION TITLE AND PLAN

New working title: How can physical interactive design be used to encourage children to be more active?

Target audience: children under 12
Why under 12? Children start secondary school at 11, and then start to be influenced by older children, and become more interested in electronics, technology, digital games etc. Their maturity also starts to develop, and they have a greater desire to be more grown up. FIND EVIDENCE. Younger children also have a lot more free time, and a lot more energy and wanting to play all the time. To focus on this lower age will mean activity can be developed as part of their routine lifestyle, something they will grow up with, rather than being impressed on them at a later age, which they may be more reluctant to accept.

Why physical interaction design?
I don't have the skills to produce a practical outcome that is digital, as I don't know how to code, or produce anything that moves really, so my inability to do these things would severely limit my practical element if I was to produce something digital. Also, having children as the target audience, this lends itself a lot better to physical interaction design, as at such a young age they don't have as much contact with digital technology as adults would, especially in regards to interactive design.
