OUGD603 EXTENDED PRACTICE: UK GREETINGS - LOVE LAYLA DESIGNS CARDS RESEARCH

One of the comments from the survey was that Love Layla Designs cards had a good range for the LGBT+ community, so I thought I should check them out to see what they have to offer.

Love and Anniversary Cards
What I found about these selection of cards, is that they are all heavily text based, there aren't any kind of illustrations or imagery beyond hearts, which is unusual. A lot of the cards are also quite sexual or rude, with a far few including swear words as well, which I think would only appeal to a certain kind of person.

These are some examples:

LGBT cards
The LGBT cards take on a similar approach, with a lot of puns and humour, and also being heavily text based. These do however take a slightly less sexual and rude approach, perhaps because of the variety within the LGBT community.

Evaluation
This has been a great thing for me to research, to see what is actually out there for the LGBT+ community, as you really don't see these kinds of cards out there in high street shops, which is a shame. It's also been interesting to see that these cards choose a text approach rather than an imagery approach, perhaps due to the complexity or variety of imagery available. I think it would be interesting to see what kinds of image based cards there are for LGBT+ people.
