OUGD603 EXTENDED PRACTICE: BRASILIAN PHOTOGRAPHY PUBLICATION BRIEFING

Studio Brief
Produce a photographic publication and accompanying map featuring Brasilian nature beyond the tourist hot spots, showcasing what Brasil has to offer if you go off the beaten track. The accompanying map should provide further information about the places showcased within the publication, so that potential tourists can visualise where these places are on a map and include them in their own trip.

Considerations
Who will be your target audience? This should be considered as it may greatly affect the style and content of the photography and the places showcased within the publication.
Where will this publication and map be sold/available to read? This will also greatly impact upon the length of the publication and the quality of the production, as well as the overall aesthetic style as well.
Also consider the binding method in allowing the photographs to be the focal point of the publication, and be able to be seen to their full potential.

Mandatory Requirements
Publication of Brasilian photographs
Accompanying map

Deliverables
Blog posts detailing the design process
Design boards summarising the design process
Brief evaluation

Deadline
15th May 2017

Timescale
3 weeks

My understanding of the brief
This brief is asking me to produce a photographic publication featuring photographs of Brasilian nature from my past two trips to the country. There should also be a map accompanying the publication to provide further information about the places showcased in the publication, and as a reference tool for tourists to understand where places are in relation to one another.
I should consider the target audience carefully, who is this publication for, who will benefit from it the most? This will greatly influence the appearance and content of the publication and photographs themselves.
The binding method should also be considered to ensure the photographs are shown off at their best, to really shine Brasil in the best light possible, and highlight it’s incredible beauty.

Aims
- To capture artistic photographs of Brasilian nature
- To experiment with photographic layouts within editorial design
- To find out what Brasil means to real Brasilians
