Research was undertaken into S Harrison Development's Ltd. to gain a better understand of the client in order to ensure the outcome fits in line with their history and ethos.
S Harrison Development’s Ltd. History
S Harrison Development’s Ltd was founded by the late Stanley Harrison in 1952 as a small local buildings company. It has since grown to become one of the North’s leading property and development businesses due to it’s strong reputation for quality and to schedule delivery. S Harrison Development’s Ltd is currently based at The Chocolate Works in York, in a new flagship headquarters. In 2007 it made the decision to sell the construction side of their business in order to fully focus on the development side.
They work all across Yorkshire, on both sides of the Pennines, into Midlands, and were schedules to finish their first project in Scotland in 2016.

According to their website, S Harrison Development’s Ltd is “committed to contributing to the communities in which it works”.
In autumn 2016 S Harrison Development’s Ltd donated funds for SNAPPY’s (Special Needs Activities and Play Provision for York) sensory garden with Brunswick Organic Nursery to get started.
Last years advent calendar design competition was set to SNAPPY to design, opening it up to the people involved in the charity. They were also created a Christmas eCard using the designs which weren’t chosen for the advent calendar.
From what I can see Harrison does a lot of work with charities, specifically SNAPPY, which seems to be a local charity close to their heart. From this, perhaps a warmer advent calendar design would be appropriate, to reflect their kindness towards the community, not to portray them as being super corporate and unfeeling.
